About Huel M. Love III
Huel M. “Tres” Love, III is a third-generation attorney whose life and career have been shaped by deep roots in Talladega County and a profound sense of service to his community. Tres was raised here, surrounded by a strong network of family, mentors, and community members who all played a role in shaping the man he would become. Among those with the greatest influence were his father, Huel Jr. (“Kenny”), and his grandparents, Huel and Betty Love. From them—and from a community that believed in investing in its own—Tres learned the values of compassion, integrity, responsibility, and the belief that true leadership begins with serving others. Growing up in Talladega County gave him an early understanding of its people, its challenges, and its strengths, forming the foundation for a lifetime of service.
Tres earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama before attending and graduating from Birmingham School of Law. After passing the bar, he returned home and practiced law for a decade. His desire to serve the people of Talladega County more directly—standing with them not only in the courtroom but on the front lines—ultimately led him to answer what he describes as a calling. In 2016, when his law partner was elected to the Circuit Court bench, Tres transitioned to full-time law enforcement with the long-term goal of serving as District Judge . He has since served as a patrol officer, patrol supervisor, and now investigator. This dual experience in both the legal system and law enforcement has strengthened his ability to analyze complex issues, lead under pressure, and approach every situation with fairness and empathy.

Tres is committed to an inclusive vision of justice—one where every person is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect. Having grown up in Talladega County and spent his professional life serving its people, he understands the importance of a judicial system that reflects the values of the community it serves. His career is guided by a simple but powerful philosophy: service is not a position one holds, but a responsibility one lives out daily.

With deep local roots, a lifetime of service-driven work, and an unwavering commitment to his community, Tres is dedicated to helping build a safer, stronger, and more compassionate Talladega County for all.

Building a Blended Family on Love and Shared Values
In 2018, Tres met the love of his life, Jessica, and her two children—Payton Rae, then 14, and Trevor, then 5. They married in 2021, blending their lives into a family rooted in love, growth, and shared values.

Today, Payton is pursuing her business degree at Jacksonville State University, and Trevor is a proud member of the Blue Knights at Winterboro High School. Family remains Tres's greatest source of pride and motivation, grounding his belief that strong communities begin with strong families.
